St Petersburg Russia

Hi Everyone!

I am finally here in St Petersburg Russia! After a long flight from Johannesburg to Dubai then Dubai to St Petersburg I am finally here. The flights here were, um... ok. The Airline was pretty good, but my body was not into the flying idea.. To give you an idea, I had to actually use that little bag that they give you. I'm sure you get the picture ;).
Well now I'm here and settled in. I am sharing my room with a girl from Norway named Theo, as you would pronounce it in Norweangan. Theo went to the Vaganova Academy last year and is now attending the Bolshoi Academy. Most of the girls here are from USA, so at least I don't have a problem understanding them, but around the streets... um that's another story. Thank goodness I have Theo who has a boyfriend from the Imperial Russian Ballet and he cant speak English so he forces here to speak Russian. Today we went on a tour of St Petersburg. Its really beautiful here and its so amazing to be in a country that is very old and has so much history. Weird to think that a couple of years ago I would not have been allowed to be in the country due to communism...

I will post a few pictures below so you can see a bit of my tour (",)

This is the entrance of my hotel from the inside.

This is jus t the inside if the beautiful hotel.

Yup I'm staying in a Russian 4 Star Hotel!

One of the many old statues.

This is A Mall, it's still pretty new, but look at it. The detail in the building...

The FAMOUS VAGANOVA ACADEMY!!! It's over 300 years old!!!

This is the very precious statue of Vaganova and I got to stand next to it. I was very lucky to be standing on the same floor that some of the world most famous Russian dancers have walked on! WOW!!!

Inside the school. Unfortunately the school was closed and due to security we were not allowed to go to the studios, but this far was good enough for me :)
Of coarse I had to get a picture outside one of the world most famous schools!

I will post some more pictures tomorrow. I need to get to bed now and get some rest of our first day! Its going to be long. We start off with Gymnastics class from 9:15-10:00, then Class with Professor of the Vaganova Academy Ms Ludmila Safronova, who is 80 years old, from 10:00-11:30.
